lyrics

Wow won’t you look at the pauper
I can tell he’s got something on his mind.
The open plains have hope for the better
That draw bridges dare not confine

To hell with the west wind that’s calling his name.
Cuz the guards in the castle they’ve lowered their gates.
For two thousand new subjects to meet the remains,
And oh God for his sake I hope it’s not too late, for them.

Cuz it made me freeze,
When I first saw those lights,
Glistening like the gold from her clothes.
So let me please, let a blind man see,
When I’m done here.

Well excuse me sire I’ve got a little tale to tell to you,
I’m off to the Southland to learn a trade or two.
and talk about tomorrow and how it’s supposed to rain
and wash away my iniquities for things soon to change.

Cuz it made me freeze,
When I first saw those lights,
Glistening like the gold from her clothes.
So let me please, let a blind man see,
When I’m done here.

Well now I’ll open up my eyes
And feel the west wind blow
So I know that I’m not only dreaming
Of the land that I love.

But sooner or later he’s bound to find that with winter goes the world.
And when lonely eyes meet those disguised well hell it will make you hurl.
But until then I’m gone from here to figure what I’m worth.
So watch me go and soon you’ll see just what I can unearth.

Cuz it made me freeze,
When I first saw those lights,
Glistening like the gold from her clothes.
So let me please, let a blind man see,
When I’m done here.

Wow wont you look at the pauper
I can tell he’s got something on his mind.
Cuz soon he’ll be lost and gone forever
Gone in the blink of an eye
